I can do the easy stuff, Change the lamps, oil, plugs, etc. But mechanically I can't do much.

I did however go to college for Autobody repair for a year and am a qualified apprentice. I decided after 6 months of working in the industry that it's something I'd rather do as a hobby instead of a job though.

I'm taking Automotive Technology 1 at the regions vocational school. From the halfway point of the year on, I'll be in Auto-Tech II & III. I'm looking at being a Diesel technician when I get out of high school. Every little bit helps.
Full time Diesel Technician. You may find me floating around on the servers

Mechanics extends beyond cars and bikes.

I can do some small stuff but like you say modern cars are ever more complex and many parts are almost impossible to get access to.

    Lovely bike btw.

A friend of mine is currently rebuilding a Mustang. He had both the engine and transmission out of the car, totally torn apart, and was in the process of putting them back together. Was pretty cool.

(He had torn both apart, ordered some new items, and was rebuilding)

Being “older” than most of the people here, I grew up in an era where guys were expected to be able to do basic car “stuff. I've changed out water pumps, alternators, and starters.

Last year, with the help of the above friend, I put new brakes on my Tundra, as well as new drums.

I don't work on cars very often. Cars today have gotten pretty complicated. I prefer to tinker/work on my bike.

I've had this bike 8 years now, and I can't count the number of times I've stripped it down to pretty much just frame, engine, and wires.

The pic below was taking just a few weeks ago.

Anyway, seeing my friend put the engine back together, made me wonder how many people could do basic mechanical stuff. Specially the “younger” crowed.

I've seen some of the threads on eGO forums, dealing with engine builds and auto works, so I know some can.

    Let's find out
    That is one nice bike

I have 4 vintage bikes that I know hot rip apart and put back together. And i do it every summer xD
Because after a cold winter in the snow they kind of impossible to start

My first car was a rebuild of a 65 Mustang my dad and I started when I was 13. I've been around a garage my whole life.

All of the above plus more.

Feel free to add me on STEAM or send me a PM on the forums. I'm always happy to help.
