Ah yes, Ubisoft is back with another big release. Since everyone loves the Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon series, I know everyone is so excited about the e l e v e n t h installment in the series. Now, Ghost Recon Breakpoint is the full story sequel to the 2017 game release of Ghost Recon Wildlands. It’s supposed to be about 4 to 6 years after Operation Kingslayer in Ghost Recon Wildlands.
But what’s interesting that it isn’t just the original Ghost Recon Wildlands development team. Ubisoft expanded its team by a very large number to give more creative freedom to the overall design and story in Ghost Recon Breakpoint. They even used Jon Bernthal to voice the antagonist and even give motion capture to the character movements.
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint will be releasing on October 4th, on the PC (Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Store), Xbox One, and PS4 for $59.99 for the Standard Edition. The Standard Edition is only made up of the base game and guaranteed access to the Beta.

So this whole story revolves around Operation Greenstone. This operation came to be because of Skell Technology, the company that makes hardware and software for both civilians and some of the stuff that Ghosts use. Jace Skell moved his company’s headquarters to Auroa, an island in the South Pacific. Well, since he just so happened to move everything to an island in the middle of nowhere…of course bad things will happen. After a possibility of Skell Technology having a hand in a political assassination and a naval ship sinking, Auroa cut all communications off from the rest of the world. That’s when Nomad and the 32 Ghosts are sent in to try and get Skell out…
But they didn’t know that Cole D. Walker and his band of Wolves are the ones in control of the archipelago. Using drones, the Wolves take out a large number of the Ghosts in their helicopters and leave the survivors scrambling to support each other. Walker even executes one of the remaining Ghosts to make a statement to the other survivors. Even though Operation Greenstone has been fully compromised and the surviving Ghosts are being hunted down, it’s still a go.
Now it’s up to those few surviving Ghosts to take down Walker and his Wolves and claim Auroa back.
So because Ghost Recon Breakpoint is the sequel to Ghost Recon Wildlands, Ubisoft had to do quite a bit to please fans and make them want to play. This is why they added a lot of new things to the playstyle of the game.
If you’re just playing along and get shot, your Ghost will become injured. If you do get injured, you’ll get slowed down and your effectiveness in fights can be reduced. It will take time and resources (*cough* bandages *cough*) to heal your Ghost. There are three different levels of injury.
- Minor Wound: When you walk or sprint, you get to see a very lovely limp, your stamina is reduced, and your aim can be a bit wobbly. Just a little bit sucky.
- Major Wound: You, unfortunately, are now going to start bleeding out, your limp is a lot worse, your speed and stamina are greatly reduced, and you can only hipfire with one arm. Very unfortunate.
- Severe Injury: You get the great pleasure of bleeding to death if you don’t use some bandages, you are barely able to walk and have no stamina, and you only have your sidearm to defend your honor. But hey, it be like that sometimes.
TERRAIN AND STAMINA
Stamina is now a thing when it comes to the terrain in Ghost Recon Breakpoint. You have the mountains you can slip and fall, you have the water that will slow you down, and then there’s the snow that will force you to push your way through. The terrain is no longer your friend and you better manage your stamina correctly.
So The Bivouac is a temp camp that you and the Ghosts you have left on your side can set up and rest for a bit. You can change classes, do some crafting and upgrading, and maybe even do some weapon cleaning. And when you’re ready to get back out there, you can select the time of day and weather.
THERE are NO EXCUSES FOR LEAVING A TEAMMATE BEHIND. If one of your teammates gets injured and they need to be moved, you’re able to pick them up and carry them off into the sunset to safety.
So being that you’re called a Ghost, this means you can now become nearly invisible to anyone trying to kill you.
ADVANCED ENEMY AI
Ubisoft decided to update the enemy AI for the Wolves to make them some experienced elite soldiers. They can now communicate amongst themselves and can hunt you down. No two fights with enemies will be the same now.
So the new cover system will now adapt to your Ghost’s body position. You can now do things like leaning to aim around corners and work with the cover you find.
Ubisoft is now adding four-player raids for Ghost Recon Breakpoint. This is the first time in all of the Ghost Recon series that this will be available.
Ghost Recon Breakpoint will now also include a 4v4 PvP gamemode called Ghost War. There will be 6 maps, 4 classes, 2 modes, dedicated servers, and even shared progression between your PvP and PvE. The two modes that will be available are Elimination and Sabotage. Elimination will have a forever closing combat zone to encourage more fighting.
With the characters available in Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Ubisoft decided to give more freedom to the characters. You’re able to create your own unique Ghost that can look the way you want. You can even play your Ghost the way you want as well. There are more classes and lots of systems available to customize both the functionality and cosmetic appearance of your Ghost. The weapons, gear, and equipment are now craftable, customizable, and upgradeable with the things you’ll find across Auroa Archipelago.
These are the Ghosts we have to keep alive:
NOMAD: the Leader, Support Gunner, and Automatic Rifleman
HOLT: the Reconnaissance and Intelligence Specialist.
VASILY:: the Sniper and Sharpshooter
FIXIT: the Combat Engineer and Field Medic
FURY: the Stealth Specialist and Panther
But the real character that we gotta keep an eye on is the antagonist of Ghost Recon Breakpoint.
COLE DENHOLM WALKER
This is a man with a very large grudge against the United States. He was a Ghost leader until an operation that happened in the Middle East in 2022. During this operation, he and a group of rogue Ghosts executed a senior Ghost and killed several others. He and his Wolves made their way to Auroa, where Skell Technology became one of his new interests. Jace Skell even made him Skell Tech’s military advisor. And since this happened, he’s been using all of Skell Tech’s resources to hunt down and kill those who are connected to the murder of his teammates in Bolivia during Operation Kingslayer in Ghost Recon Wildlands.
Now it’s not just the playable characters that are new. From the first launch of the game, there will be four character classes available to play. And if you use the bivouac, you can change the class. These classes are:
- ASSAULT: These characters specialize in direct combat and are the more “tankier” characters.
- SHARPSHOOTER: These guys like to aim and fire before asking questions. They specialize in using long-range ammo, reload long-range weapons faster, and can even hold their breath to steady their aim. They can load three special bullets into their rifles that deal large amounts of damage.
- PANTHER: This is for those players who wanna be very sneaky when moving. They specialize in stealth, have suppressed weapons, and get Smoke Bombs. They have become the true masters of infiltration and are more likely to want to fight at close range before ducking back out of sight.
- ENGINEER: You don’t have a bit of stealth if you are an engineer. These guys like to carry rocket launchers and blow everything up that they see. But they’re also pretty smart, carrying the Intelligence title as well. Along with the rocket launchers, they also get Personal Defense Rifles and shotguns.
