Game Spotlight: Life is Strange 2

RELEASE DETAILS
I know many of you gamers know who Square Enix and Dontnod Entertainment are at this point. Square Enix, known for the titles such as the Tomb Raider series, Final Fantasy series, Deus Ex series, and Dontnod Entertainment, known for Remember Me, Vampyr, and the original Life is Strange, are once again working together to bring a new game to you.

Life is Strange 2: Episode One “Roads” will be releasing on September 27th, on the PC, Xbox One, and PS4. But, just so you have options, there are two different ways you can buy the game.

OPTION #1
LIFE IS STRANGE 2 EPISODE 1 – $7.99

Now, this only contains the first episode and is only available once the game is released on the 27th. But this is for those players that want to see if they’ll like the game before buying all the episode.

OPTION #2
LIFE IS STRANGE 2 COMPLETE SEASON – $39.75

This version contains all of the episodes that will be available (1-5) on the 27th. And, because we’re still in preorder time, this is the only option purchasable at this time. But it will still totally be available after the game is released.

BUT HEY! THERE IS SOME COOL THINGS IF YOU BUY THINGS EARLY

If you prepurchase the Life is Strange Complete Season, you’ll receive the “Mascot Bundle,” which gives you patches and a keyring from the Life is Strange universe to customise your in-game backpack.

AND IF YOU DECIDE TO SPLURGE FOR THE COMPLETE SEASON

If you purchase the complete season, you will receive the “Arcadia Bay” patch bundle in order to be able to customise your in-game backpack.

STORY
Square Enix and Dontnod Entertainment are coming forth to present Life is Strange 2. While it’s not a sequel to the original Life is Strange, it’s within the same series and is similar is presentation.

While the story takes place again in the Pacific Northwest, we don’t get to see Max and Chloe from Life is Strange again. Instead, players are introduced to two brothers, Sean (16) and Daniel (9) Diaz. But, because of a tragic accident that leaves a police officer dead, Sean and Daniel are forced into running away. The decision is made to leave their life in Seattle and head back to their original home in Puerto Lobos, Mexico.

But it’s really not that simple. These two brothers, while traveling, have to attempt to hide the sudden supernatural power that appeared during the accident. Sean, having to deal with this new power, has to both control himself and protect his brother.

GAMEPLAY

Life is Strange 2 is similar to the original Life is Strange in that is takes a third-person point of view within the gameplay of a graphic novel. Instead of players roleplaying as Chloe, they’ll instead be taking control of Sean Diaz. Sean is able to interact with the environment, pickup and handle objects found on the journey, and have conversations with NPC characters.

But there’s something special going on here. Some of you might have heard of The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit, which was also developed and published by Dontnod Entertainment and Square Enix. Well, it’s a completely free demo that these two companies released while Life is Strange 2 was in development.

If you had the chance to play it, well then you had a sneak peek into Sean and Daniel before their own release. But this demo had a bit more important role than just being a demo game. Some of the decisions players made in The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit will have an effect on how the story in Life is Strange 2 is played. Choices made in the demo game will provide different storyline branches and change the behavior of how Daniel is.

So I guess you could say the demo might just be a bit important here. I mean, it’s not required of you to have played it but it will definitely make the game more interesting.
